We both proudly shoot Mathews Compound Bows, fitted out with Spot Hog Single and Multipin Sights.
As well as the Compound Bows, we have also entered the world of Traditional Archery too.. read on to learn more about our Archery passion - enjoy!
Both of us harboured a secret desire to delve into archery. Bridget, new to the sport, and me, eager to take it up more seriously after dabbling with a few bows in the past. We hoped it would become an activity we could enjoy together.
After thorough research and saving up, we explored various online stores before deciding to visit Mike at Archery Essentials in Midvale, Perth. We discussed our archery aspirations and our plans to incorporate it into our travels, possibly even for hunting.
During our three-hour conversation with Mike, we invested in our first serious Compound Bows and accessories. I opted for the V3 31 Mathews bow RH 29.5 inch draw @max70lbs, while Bridget chose the Mathews Prima Compound Bow with a max of 40lbs.
Now equipped, we joined a local ABA Bow Hunting Club in Perth's South Eastern Suburbs, Gleneagles Bow Hunting Club, where we've been members for about three years. The club offers two 20-target ranges and a practice range from 10m to 60m, all for a reasonable annual fee of $50 per person plus $5 per person per day you shoot... that's fantastic value in our opinion.
While we're still honing our skills, we're committed to improving and hope to make our mark in archery circles. Stay tuned for updates and insights as we document our archery adventures with photos and videos.
VIdeo below shows some raw footage of us getting comfortable with our new gear... feel free to have a laugh!

We also shoot White Feather Lark Traditional Bows. It is a very stripped-back sport compared to shooting with a compound bow... with Traditional shooting, everything matters. It becomes more about you and your form than all of the gear and what is hanging off your bow. It feels much more rewarding when you hit the target. Our plan is to attend as many Archery Clubs as we can on our travels.
